Glucose insulin mathematical model
WebPurpose of review: Mathematical models in the study of glucose metabolism, insulin secretion and the insulin-glucose interactions have a longstanding tradition. The recent advances in this area are reviewed, with particular emphasis on the methods for the assessment of insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion. WebIt is a model of the glucose–insulin system (GIS) describing the physiological behaviour of a human after food intake and through six compartments: glucose system, insulin system, gastrointestinal tract, muscle and adipose tissue, liver, and β‐cell; it is accepted as one of the most realistic models.
